iLearn Japanese
Some of the activities in iLearn Japanese require you to type in Japanese
scripts. If you do not have the Japanese version of Windows you will need
to install Microsoft's Japanese IME (Input Method Editor). The IME allows
users of non-Japanese versions of Windows to read and enter Japanese hiragana,
katakana and kanji scripts in IME enabled applications. You can find out
more about the Microsoft IME at:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/handson/user/IME_Paper.mspx
MAC users
IME is shipped standard with OSX as well as some earlier versions.

Podcasting
What is podcasting?
Podcasting is a new way we can send you some of our audio files to use
on your computer or MP3 player. A "podcast" can mean either
the content or the way it is delivered. The iListen podcast website offers
direct download of a file or a "feed" service (podcast) which
will automatically deliver new content if you subscribe to the feed. To
subscribe to a feed service you need podcasting software that manages
your subscriptions. You can then listen to the audio on your computer
or transfer it to an MP3 player.
Where do I get podcasting software?
Follow
this link for a useful list of podcasting applications. Juice Receiver
and iTunes are popular podcasting applications.
How do I listen to a podcast?
As long as your computer has a sound card you can listen to individual
podcasts straight away by simply clicking on the file. If you want to
save the file to your computer, simply 'right click' and choose 'save
as' to save the file in the location you want.
If you want to make your iListen files portable, you can download them
to a portable device, such as your MP3 player.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?
You need to download podcasting software such as Juice or Apple's iTunes
for Mac and Windows or any other similar podcasting software. These programs
allow you to schedule regular updates to your selected downloads with
an iPod or other MP3 player. There are also podcasting programs which
allow you to listen to podcasts on mobile phones and Pocket PC.
Once you have set up the podcasting software, simply copy and paste the
subscription URL into your podcasting program. This will add the selected
program to your podcasting subscriptions.
